The annual show of works by Chris Morel is on view this month at Galerie Gabrie. This New Mexico based landscape painter travels across the American West, Mexico and California to capture scenic views ranging from snow-covered mountains to evocative historic architecture. This year’s exhibit includes a number of paintings from his recent trip to San Miguel de Allende—a lively artists colony which was the source of inspiration for a number of American artists of note in the twentieth century.

This past year, Chris has participated in several prestigious invitational shows throughout the country including the annual Oil Painters of America National Show. For collectors who are following his career, you’ll remember his feature in Southwest Art Magazine as an “Artist to Watch” in 2002. More recently, he is featured in the February issue of American Art Collector magazine.

The wide range of landscapes that Chris has studied encompasses areas of the country from Maryland to Taos to California - almost always en plein air and certainly and confidently accurate. At this point, although we list just a few of his numerous accomplishments over the past years, but we invite you to enjoy the visual which speaks for itself - this exhibit of work titled, “Of Earth and Sky”. Each and every painting has been carefully planned, studied, composed and painstakingly created in hopes that it will find a permanent home on your walls.
