Conchita!

Conchita!

Conchita grew up in the great city of Chicago in a creative environment nurtured by her mother, an artist herself who studied with renowned Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros, and her father, a mathematician who pioneered the computer industry.

With degrees in English and Russian literature, Conchita found her unique way of expressing beauty as applied to both the literary and visual arts. As a successful jewelry designer and writer, she decided in 1997 to explore the possibility of integrating these careers through painting. This idea became a reality as she learned the technical skills necessary to illustrate her short stories.

She studied at Art Center College of Design.

Conchita is inspired by the compositional strength found in the works of Russian Impressionists, Ilya Repin and Valentin Serov. In 2003, Conchita traveled to Russia to paint and study the Russian masters in person. She has also painted en plein air in France, Italy, Africa, Scotland, Mexico and most recently in China and Mongolia. In the course of visiting distant lands, she has discovered that there is a unifying invisible language that connects all countries and peoples, which exist through artistic expression, thus echoing humanity through art. Conchita has exhibited at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles and the Pasadena Showcase House of Design. She is the creator and teacher of "Healing Magic through Art" workshops at the Wellness Community in Pasadena.

Conchita is a member of Oil Painters of America and an Artist Member of the California Art Club.
