Htun Tin is mostly self-taught which affirms our belief that one is born with talent and only then might be fortunate enough to develop skills to support that talent.  Htun Tim began drawing and painting in high school.  Although he had no formal education or training, he studied under famed Myanmar artists Paw Oo Thett and Paw Theme.  He participated actively in several art exhibitions in Myanmar between 1974 and 1987.  As a result, his skill and talent was noticed and one of his paintings was selected for display in the national Art Museum in Myanmar.

Painting took a back seat to study and the pursuit of a professional career when he came to the United States in 9189.  He recently began painting in watercolor again focusing on local architecture, cityscapes, landscapes and portraits.  He continues to study and attend workshops given by other artist of note whom he admires as his time allows.

Htun Tin is a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, San Gabriel Fine Arts Association, California Art Club and Watercolor West.
